Kelvin

The kelvin (symbol: K), is the SI base unit of temperature, named after the physicist William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin (1824–1907). The Kelvin scale is an absolute thermodynamic temperature scale, meaning it uses absolute zero as its null (zero) point. The full name of this SI unit is kelvin (starts with small k). The kelvin is the primary unit of temperature for engineering and the physical sciences.

Rankine

The Rankine scale is an absolute scale of thermodynamic temperature. It was proposed by the physicist Macquorn Rankine in 1859. Similar to the Kelvin scale, which was first proposed in 1848,[1] zero on the Rankine scale is absolute zero, but a temperature difference of one Rankine degree (symbol: °R) is defined as equal to one Fahrenheit degree, rather than the Celsius degree used on the Kelvin scale. A temperature of 0 K (−273.15 °C; −459.67 °F) is equal to 0 °R.
